Board Certification

Board-certified psychiatrists have passed written and oral examinations administered by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc., A Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Please note that board certification status is not displayed in the referral directory.

If you would like to know if a psychiatrist is board-certified, you have the following options:

1.    Call the OCPS referral service at (714) 978-0147.

2.    Click on the Who’s Certified link at the American Board of Medical Specialties website. This service is free of charge but requires registration.

3.    Call the American Board of Medical Specialties at 1-866-ASK-ABMS (1-866-275-2267). This service is free of charge.

4.    Ask the psychiatrist directly when first contacting the psychiatrist by phone.
