CURES Database Registration Mandate (Updated)
Effective July 1, 2016*, California Health and Safety Code, Section 11165.1 will mandate that all California-licensed health care providers authorized to prescribe, order, administer, furnish or dispense Schedule II, III, or IV controlled substances must be registered to access the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES). For more information and instructions, please login to the Members Only area and look under Resources.
*UPDATE: In mid-October, Assembly bill 679 extended the registration deadline 6 months. All individuals practicing in California who possess both a state regulatory board license authorized to prescribe, dispense, furnish or order controlled substances and a Drug Enforcement Administration Controlled Substance Registration Certificate (DEA Certificate) now have until July 1, 2016, to register to use CURES.
